"Be the change you wish to see."
Mahatma Gandhi

The G4G VA Choir is a mailing list of people interested in singing for the veterans throughout the year at Palo Alto VA Hospital.

Since 2013, we have sung three times each year. We typically meet for 2 hours to practice one week on a Sunday afternoon and then sing at the VA the following week in 4-6 wards. This group is limited to 25 people per session by the VA. There are currently 40+ active members who participate.

Quarterly Song Lists(subject to minor changes):

We always sing the round Thank-You for your Service at the beginning of each new location. All songs will have practice files like this one.
  • SPRING(Love theme): Amazing Grace, America the Beautiful, Down in the Valley, Five Foot Two, He's Got the Whole World, Love Me Tender, My Country 'Tis of Thee, With a Little Help from My Friends, You're A Grand Old Flag (Songbook, MIDI Practice Files)

  • SUMMER(Patriotic): Air Force Song, America the Beautiful, Anchors Aweigh, Army Song, God Bless America, Marine's Hymn, Star-Spangled Banner, This Land is Your Land (Songbook, MIDI Practice Files)

  • FALL(Thanksgiving): America the Beautiful, Lean on Me, My Country 'Tis of Thee, Now Thank We All Our God, American Soldier, You're A Grand Old Flag (Songbook, MIDI Practice Files)

Interested? If you'd like to be on the mailing list for this group, please read the Singing Guidelines document. If you are comfortable with these standards, send an email to Gail Grant. In your message, include what part you sing, if you sing parts (i.e. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass) and if you play an instrument well enough to play with the choir. If you are unable to match pitch and carry a tune, this may not be the right service opportunity for you. At Christmas, we make a joyful noise. The VA Choir strives to make beautiful music for our veterans.
